Drum patterns & copyright
- Patterns are recreations for educational purposes; no original commercial multitracks are used.
- Royalty-free or original drum samples only; rhythmic interpretations may differ from any reference track.
- Artist and track names are identifiers only. This site is not affiliated with artists, labels, or publishers mentioned.
Images & visuals
No album art or third-party artist photos in pattern listings. The About page may include an approved founder portrait. Other visuals (gradients, icons) are original to the site unless noted.
User-submitted content
- You may use the app as a guest or, when available, with a registered account.
- Server-stored patterns must be your own recreations, not copies of commercial recordings.
- We may remove inappropriate or unlawful content.
- If an account is restricted (banned) for serious or repeated violations, public patterns may remain visible in the catalogue so the community keeps working educational material. The creator is then shown under an anonymized label (for example
accountplus a numeric id) with a clear Banned badge instead of their pseudonym, and profile deep-links to that person are not offered to other users. The account holder still sees their own pseudonym where they are signed in.
Community guidelines
These rules describe how we expect people to behave on Snap to Grid and what we may do when something goes wrong. They sit alongside the rest of this page; they are not legal advice.
Acceptable content
- Share your own step patterns and rhythms for educational practice. Do not upload material that is primarily someone else's commercial recording, multitrack rip, or other clearly infringing copy.
- Artist and track names are identifiers only, as under Drum patterns & copyright; do not impersonate artists, labels, or other users.
- Comments and profile text should stay respectful and on-topic. No harassment, hate, threats, sexual content involving minors, doxxing, spam, or malware links.
Reporting
- When you are signed in, you can report a member's profile from their public profile if you believe they are breaking these rules or misusing the service.
- You can report comments where that option is available (for example on published patterns).
- Reports are reviewed in good faith; we do not guarantee a particular outcome or timeline.
Moderation outcomes
- We may warn, restrict features, or restrict (ban) sign-in for serious or repeated breaches.
- When sign-in is restricted, you may see a short moderator note on the account status screen. That note is contextual, not a full legal ruling.
- Public patterns may remain in the catalogue under the rules described under User-submitted content above (anonymized label, status visible to others).
Recourse
If you disagree with a moderation decision or need something handled outside the app, use the Appeals and other legal requests paragraph under Privacy Policy — Contact, moderation & complaints on this page, or email the contact address on Contact.
Minors (guidelines)
If you are below the age of digital consent where you live, follow the Minors section on this page and do not create an account without a parent or guardian where that applies.
Accounts, guest mode & authentication (JWT)
- Guest: browse and edit locally; saving to the site or publishing may require signing in.
- Accounts: we process data needed to operate accounts (e.g. email, pseudonym, password hash, optional profile text).
- JWT: the API uses signed tokens for access and renewal. A short-lived access token and a refresh mechanism may be used; see deployment documentation for cookie vs. storage choices.
- Private share links: separate signed links can grant read-only access to one private pattern until expiry; they are not a full account login.
Personal data (summary)
- Categories may include account fields, token identifiers for logout/revocation, patterns and playlists you save, and normal server logs.
- Rights (access, rectification, erasure) depend on applicable law and implemented features. Use the Contact page for requests.
Cookies & local storage
The app may use browser storage for session and UI preferences. Third-party cookies may apply if ads or analytics are enabled — disclose them near those features when active.
Minors
If you are below the age of digital consent in your country, use the site with a parent or guardian and do not create an account without their agreement.
Advertising
The service may remain free with ad support; ads do not change the educational intent of the tool.
Privacy Policy (GDPR)
Welcome to Snap to Grid. We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Data Collected
- Account Information: Email, pseudonym, and optionally a biography.
- User Content: Patterns, playlists, and comments you create.
- Authentication: We use cookies to maintain your session and ensure secure access.
2. Purpose of Processing
We process your data strictly to provide the core service: saving and sharing your musical creations. The legal basis is Contractual Necessity (Terms of Service).
3. Your Rights
You have the following rights, which can be exercised directly from your Profile Settings:
- Right to Erasure: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
- Right to Portability: You can download a complete archive of your data in JSON format.
- Right to Access/Rectification: You can view and update your profile information in the bio and settings.
4. Data Retention
Data is stored as long as your account is active. Once deleted, content is physically removed from our databases within 24 hours.
5. Contact, moderation & complaints
Privacy and data rights (access, portability, erasure, questions about this notice): contact [email protected]. Where the product allows it, you can also use Profile (export and account deletion).
Community safety (reports about another member's conduct, harassment, or repeated misrepresentation of tracks): use the in-app reporting flow on that person's profile when you are signed in. We review reports in good faith; we do not guarantee an outcome or a delay.
Appeals and other legal requests (e.g. disagreement with a moderation decision, or a request that must be handled outside the self-service tools): write to the same address with a clear subject line and enough detail for us to identify your account without sending passwords.
If you are in the EEA, you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority for data protection.
